Secondary Cover Supervisor – Salisbury

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the class teacher
• Distribute and oversee the completion of pre-prepared work and learning tasks
• Maintain a calm, focused and productive classroom environment
• Monitor and manage pupil behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
• Take accurate registers and report any concerns to the relevant member of staff
• Support pupils who require additional assistance with set tasks
• Liaise with school staff and administration to ensure smooth cover arrangements
• Uphold the ethos, values and expectations of each school

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
• Confidence and ability to manage a classroom independently
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A calm, professional and adaptable approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff quickly
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK

Desirable

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or Cover Supervisor
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum across secondary phases
• Experience working across multiple year groups and subject areas
• A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g. Level 2/3 TA qualification, Level 4 Certificate for HLTAs, a degree in Education or QTS)
