Who is Apple A Day Supply?
How is Apple A Day different from other recruitment agencies?
Because we’re run by educators ourselves, we understand the reality of being in the classroom. Some of us have been members of SLT and supply teachers too, so we know what really matters to both schools and teachers. That’s why we’re committed to respect, integrity, and transparency, and to looking after the wellbeing and trust of teachers and support staff. Safeguarding, open communication, and genuine care for the people we work with sit at the heart of Apple A Day.

How much do supply teachers get paid?
Pay varies depending on the type of placement.
Ad-hoc bookings: For ad-hoc day-to-day supply, teachers and TAs are paid a set daily rate for each day worked.
Long-term roles: These are paid in line with the Teachers’ Pay Scale, ranging from £34,069 upwards annually, pro-rated for the period worked. Your consultant will confirm your MP rate and discuss this with the school before you agree to a contract. To work out your day rate, take your annual salary and divide it by 195 (the number of school days).
What locations does Apple A Day cover?
We work with Primary and Secondary schools, MATs and nurseries across Wiltshire and Bath & North East Somerset.
Areas include but not limited to; Trowbridge, Melksham, Chippenham, Calne, Devizes, Corsham, Westbury, Frome, Bath, Radstock, Malmesbury, Salisbury and Swindon.
How much work will I get?
This depends on how far you are willing to travel and the range of year groups / subjects you will teach. After the first month of the academic year when it is quiet, we are fully booked most days.
To maximise how much work you are offered, make sure that you are responsive and communicate with the team, willing to travel at least 30 minutes if possible and teach a variety of year groups.
What will I do as a supply teacher?
Supply teachers’ responsibilities vary depending on the type of assignment.
Ad-hoc cover: You deliver lessons, mark work, and leave feedback, usually following plans left by the school or teacher. Your focus is on keeping learning on track for the pupils.
Long-term cover: You take on full class responsibilities, including planning lessons, assessing pupil progress, and attending staff meetings and parents’ evenings.

Within our team, we have a Secondary English Teacher, two Primary School Teachers, and a Primary Teacher with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) experience.
We are audited annually by APSCo Compliance+ to provide reassurance that we consistently uphold Safer Recruitment in Education standards and the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines. In addition, two members of our team are DSL-trained, further strengthening our commitment to safeguarding.

How do we request a teacher or support staff cover?
Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 6:45am to 6pm, and Sundays from 4pm to 8pm during term time. During school holidays our office is open 10am – 4pm. Outside of these hours, you can send an email, and we’ll respond as soon as the office opens.

How far in advance should I request cover?
We recommend making bookings as early as you can, but we’re able to accommodate last minute requests too.

How can our school or trust save money?
Your dedicated consultant can provide costed options tailored to your requirements, helping you make informed decisions to maximise your budget. Apple A Day Supply is an approved supplier on the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) Framework, giving schools and trusts the assurance of transparent, compliant, and cost-effective recruitment solutions.
In addition, we work in partnership with a Managed Service Provider to streamline the booking process, particularly beneficial for Multi Academy Trusts managing a higher volume of staffing needs.
What are your opening hours?
Term time: Monday to Friday 6:45am – 6pm, Sundays 4pm – 8pm.
School holidays: Monday to Friday 8am – 3pm.
